  Antrim Parish

Black Box deploys an integrated IP solution as the cornerstone for growth, reliability and security.

Background

Antrim Parish is an amalgamation of churches and community buildings in Antrim, Northern Ireland. Several of their buildings required major refurbishment and an IT upgrade. Antrim Parish were not sure of their specific IT requirements but had a vision of what they desired so they contacted Black Box Network Services for advice on the most appropriate solution, taking account of the physical constraints of the campus site.

Challenge

Antrim Parish put together a strategy to improve their IT technology in three of their main buildings – the Parish Administration Office, the Minor Hall, and the Youth Centre which includes a training room, child care and catering facilities. They needed an infrastructure which would handle their current and also their future technology requirements.

Black Box carried out a thorough audit of the buildings and the capacity of the legacy systems to support the client’s communications and security needs. The site audit indicated the requirement for a point-to-point wireless network to link the two remote buildings to the Administration Office, which is the main hub for all three buildings. This wireless infrastructure would provide the backbone for the installation of an IP PBX, an IP CCTV system, an IP-based door entry system, and a public-facing Wi-Fi network encompassing the full campus site.
